Construction of the Lakeshore Lodge is progressing rapidly, with the addition of roofs to its A-frame cabins and distinctive overhangs that have recently been completed.
Lakeshore Lodge Construction Update
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is being constructed adjacent to the Fort Wilderness Resort, utilizing the site once occupied by River Country. This location overlooks the now-closed Discovery Island on Bay Lake. The resort, which is part of the Disney Vacation Club, is projected to open its doors in 2027, showcasing a design that draws inspiration from the splendor of nature and its lasting impact on Disney's creative visionaries.
Visitors can catch glimpses of the ongoing construction from the monorail and water taxis that connect Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, adding to the excitement surrounding this project.
During a recent visit by our reporter, significant advancements were evident in the construction of the A-frame cabins. In just a few weeks, crews have made substantial progress on the framework for the cabins situated along Clementine Beach, with workers actively engaged on-site while we captured photos.
The angular overhangs that echo the design of the main porte cochere have now received their roofs, transforming what was once just skeletal framing into a more completed structure.
As we look at the resort wing, which is visible from the arcade and Pioneer Hall area of Fort Wilderness, it is becoming increasingly finished each day. Updates include the application of sheathing, the installation of overhang frames, and roofing work.
Notably, the A-frame cabins closest to the main lodge have been fully roofed, with some buildings already featuring glass windows, allowing for bright interiors. Furthermore, the resort wing that is observable from Fort Wilderness has had all its balconies and windows fitted, alongside roofs installed on the overhangs. Completion of the concrete work on this segment appears to be nearing its final stages.
Meanwhile, the entryway porte cochere continues to be reinforced with additional concrete. This covered area is designed for ease of vehicle passage, enhancing the experience for guests during check-in and check-out. Scaffolding has been erected to create the shape of a corner tower, complete with a large roof overhang, which can be seen from Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness.
Additionally, crews have been busy installing stairways to improve access throughout the development. The cabins along Clementine Beach have also seen an increase in wood and steel framing, suggesting that roofing will soon be underway.
The lakeside wing of the resort remains enveloped in scaffolding. This is the same section where we previously reported a barge with a crane was stationed during our last update. A wider perspective showcases how the cabin frames are positioned in relation to the main lodge structure, emphasizing the scale of the development.
The barge in Bay Lake, which once supported a crane beside the construction dock, has been repositioned closer to the center of the building site and currently accommodates a cherry picker. This area is likely designated for a patio associated with a restaurant or lounge, providing a scenic spot for relaxation.
Moreover, a section of the roof with tiered overhangs appears to be designed for a potential restaurant or lounge that could offer stunning floor-to-ceiling views of Bay Lake. Rows of A-frame cabins are being meticulously built on either side of the main resort, with crews diligently adding more structural supports and wooden details over the past weeks. It’s now anticipated that at least 20 cabins will be integrated into the overall resort design.
As preparations continue for the concrete sheathing of the lakeside wing, nearly all balconies and windows have been installed, marking significant strides in construction.
