Four Collegiate Golfers from Oregon and Oregon State Head to Augusta National
Four talented golfers from Oregon and Oregon State are set to compete in the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur. This year's tournament, taking place from April 1-4 in Augusta, Georgia, features a strong representation from the Pacific Northwest. Among the participants are three Oregon Ducks and one Oregon State Beaver, showcasing the region's golf prowess.
Kiara Romero, Karen Tsuru, and Prim Prachnakorn from Oregon, along with Kyra Ly from Oregon State, will be vying for top honors. The field is highly competitive, comprising the Top 20 players in the current World Amateur Golf rankings and 48 of the Top 50. Romero, a junior, stands out as the No. 1 women's amateur in the world and the first two-time, first-team All-American in Oregon women's golf history. Her previous experience at Augusta last year, where she tied for seventh, bodes well for her performance this time around.
Prachnakorn and Tsuru, ranked No. 30 and No. 40 respectively in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, will also be making their mark on the course. The tournament's first and second rounds will be broadcast live on the Golf Channel from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. ET on April 1 and 2. Following a practice round on April 3, NBC Sports will air the final round from 12-3 p.m. ET on April 4, providing a comprehensive view of the tournament's climax.
This tournament not only highlights the exceptional talent of these golfers but also serves as a platform for the universities to showcase their athletic programs. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes and their support systems. With such a strong showing, the future of women's golf in the region looks bright.
